  • You can see all our upcoming classes on the live timetable which is always up-to-date with classes and teachers.

  • Yes please, all classes need to be pre-booked. You can pay as you go (drop-in rate) or save money by buying a class pass or membership. The details of our memberships and passes can be found on the Pricing page.

  • We have a wide range of options from pay-as-you-go to unlimited monthly memberships. The details of all our memberships and passes can be found on the Pricing page.

  • Yes, we are committed to breaking down financial barriers to participating in yoga. Many of our classes are donation-based and you can access all our classes, courses and memberships through our Pay What You Can Scheme. We also run community courses which are free or subsidised - please sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media to keep up-to-date.

  • Since Covid we have capped our general studio classes at 14 people. For Beginners and Upward Frog Hatha, the capacity is 12.

  • Some studio classes do get full but you will be offered a place on the waiting list if a class is full. Very often you will get a place in the class. The waitlist does work so please use it!

  • If a class is full you will be able to add your name to the waiting list. If a place becomes available, everyone on the waiting list receives an email offering them the place. The quickest to respond gets the place. If you don’t get the place you stay on the waiting list for another place to become available.

  • If you cancel within 8 hours, the class is credited back onto your account. If you cancel within 8 hours this is recorded as a late cancel and the class is not credited back to you. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.

 Coming to Class

  • Please aim to arrive about 10 minutes before class. If it’s your first time, allow a few extra minutes to complete your health questionnaire.

  • You don’t need to bring anything. We have mats and props available at the studio which you are welcome to use. You can also bring your own or buy them at the studio.

  • Wear clothes that feel comfortable and that you can move freely in. Something similar to what you might go to the gym in would be fine.

Bear in mind that you might take your head lower than your hips so a loose top might fall down and expose more than you planned.

Best to wear something which is reasonably close fitting on top.

Yoga is practiced barefoot. If you Really Must Wear Socks, please use the ones with non-stick spots on the bottom.

It’s also a good idea to have an extra layer to put on during savasana when the body temperature drops.

  • Ideally do not eat in the 2 hours before class although a small snack beforehand is ok.

  • No, you don’t need to bring water but if you think you need it, please bring it in a non-spill container.

  • Unlikely! All our classes are mixed and we have many dedicated male practitioners.

  • Ideally you should try to practice yoga several times a week. It doesn’t always have to be at the studio. You can also practice at home in our Zoom classes or with our On Demand Videos. We can help you with this, just ask!

  • Our regular timetabled studio classes are for 18+ only. If you are 16 or 17 you are welcome with a parent or guardian.

 Health

  • Upward Frog is here to make yoga available to as many people as possible and we are able to accommodate a wide range of health conditions in class. For more information, please look at our Health Conditions page.

  • Most likely, no. We would ask you to wait until you are recovered. Please see our page about injuries for more information.

  • Yes, you can! You can do yoga on a chair or in a wheelchair But it is important that you come to the right class because a) not all classes are suitable on the chair and b) not all teachers are Chair Yoga trained. Please get in touch and we can discuss in more detail.

  • Congratulations! However, we do not recommend starting yoga when you are pregnant.

If you already have an established practice at the studio, please talk to your teacher. At the teacher’s discretion we can teach you after the first trimester.

We also recommend Yoga with Jai (Jaina Bhana Mistry) who offers a range of antenatal and postnatal yoga in South Manchester.

  • Usually the answer is yes but we need to know if the medication has relevant side effects, such as dizziness. If you have any concerns, please contact us to discuss.

If you have any other questions which we haven’t answered here, please get in touch.
