Contraindications for Yoga4Health Programme

There are some conditions which are contraindicated for the Yoga4Health course.

This means that if you have a diagnosis of any condition on this list you won’t be eligible to join the course.

  • Chronic schizophrenia (a single psychotic event more than five years ago is allowed)

  • Bipolar I or II

  • Anti-social behaviours

  • Cognitive impairment

  • Acute inflammatory conditions (chronic well-managed inflammatory conditions are allowed)

  • Pregnancy

  • Recovery from substance misuse

  • Recovery from eating disorder

  • Cancer - where condition is active and treatment is ongoing

  • Late stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD)

  • Severe or acute muscularskeletal issues

  • Kidney failure or dialysis

  • Parkinsons Disease at stage 3, 4 or 5

  • Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

  • Epilepsy

  • Recent stroke

  • Severe osteoporosis

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Chronic pain

  • Acute depression or anxiety
